Know Your Rights During COVID-19
Dear HANA Community,
Let’s be clear – COVID-19 is a global pandemic that needs all levels of government and health authorities working together and leading us out of this health crisis. Calling this a “Chinese Virus,” as the president does, is yet another reminder that this administration is committed to polarizing and exploiting vulnerable people to grow xenophobia and racism, no matter the cost. Continued tweets of blame do not hide the fact that Trump’s administration failed by avoiding expert advice and being unprepared to protect the American people.
As people are facing fear, illness, and even death, what we urgently need is for Congress to remember their responsibilities and fix America’s very sick health system and lead this country with Universal Health Care for All. This is also a time to halt all ICE activities and focus on protecting all immigrants, low-income, and vulnerable people during these trying times.
COVID-19 is affecting all aspects of our society, including how, when, and where we live and work. Now more than ever, being informed about our rights is critical as immigrants and workers. Please review and practice Know Your Rights and Know Your Worker Rights and have active safety plans. And please remember, if you are concerned about ICE activities or deportation, you can call the HANA/NAKASEC 24-hour Korean language hotline at 1-844-500-3222.

코비드 19 (코로나 바이러스) 사태는 모든 정부기관과 공공보건 기관들이 힘을 합쳐 헤쳐나가야 하는 전세계적인 어려움이라는 것은 매우 자명한 사실입니다. 이 바이러스를 트럼프 대통령처럼 “중국 바이러스”라고 부르는 것은 현 정권이 취약한 계층을 양극화 시키고 착취하여 인종차별주의와 외국인혐오증을 유발시키는데 도움을 주는 일 밖에 되지 않습니다. 계속되는 책임회피의 트윗으로는 트럼프 정권이 전문가들의 조언을 무시하고 미국시민들을 보호하기위한 준비가 미미하다는 진실을 숨길수 없습니다.
국민과 대중이 질병으로 고통받고 죽임당하고 공포에 떨고 있는 지금 국회는 미국의 고장난 공공보건 및 보험 시스템을 고쳐야만 하는 본인들의 책임을 상기하고 그 해결책으로 누구나 저렴하고 쉽게 가입할수 있는 보편화된 국민건강보험을 실현시켜야 한다는 점을 기억해야 합니다. 또 이 어려운 시기에 ICE의 모든 활동을 중지하고 모든 이민자와 저소득층 그리고 취약계층을 돕는데 집중을 해야 합니다.
코비드 19는 우리가 언제 어떻게 어디서 살아야하고 일해야 한지 등 사회의 모든 면에 영향을 끼치고 있습니다. 그 어느때보다도 이민자로서 그리고 노동자로서 우리의 권리를 아는것은 중요합니다. 이곳에 링크되어 있는 우리의 헌법적 권리와 노동권적 권리에 대해 꼭 숙지하시고 그 권리를 지켜내시기 바랍니다. 또 이 권리에 따른 “안전계획”을 짜는것이 중요합니다. 그리고 ICE 활동이나 추방의 위험에 처해있을 경우 미교협과 하나센터가 24시간 한국어로 운영하는 1-844-500-3222 핫라인에서 도움을 받을수 있다는 점을 꼭 기억하세요.

Conozca sus derechos durante COVID-19
Estimada comunidad de HANA:
Es muy obvio que COVID-19 (coronavirus) es una pandemia global que requiere que todos los niveles de gobierno y autoridades de salud trabajen juntos para llevarnos a salir de esta crisis de salud. Llamar a coronavirus un "virus chino", como lo hace el presidente, es otro evidencia de que esta administración está enfocada a polarizar y explotar a las personas vulnerables para causar la xenofobia y el racismo, sin importar el costo. Los continuos tweets de culpa no ocultan el hecho que la administración de Trump fracasó a aceptar la sugerencia de expertos y no estar preparado para proteger a el público de estadounidense.
A medida que las personas enfrentan miedo, enfermedad y la muerte, lo que necesitamos inmediatamente es que el Congreso recuerde sus responsabilidades y arregle el sistema de salud muy estropeado de Estados Unidos y guie este país a Universal Health Care for All. Este es también un momento para detener todas las actividades de ICE y focar en proteger a todos los inmigrantes, personas de bajos ingresos y personas vulnerables durante estos tiempos difíciles.
COVID-19 está afectando todos los aspectos de nuestra sociedad, incluyendo cómo, cuándo y dónde vivimos y trabajamos. Ahora más que nunca, necesitamos informanos sobre nuestros derechos que son fundamentales para inmigrantes y trabajadores. Revise y practique Know Your Rights y Know Your Worker Rights y tenga planes de emergencia.
