It's been five years since the Teaching Equitable Asian American Community Histories (TEAACH) Act passed, and most Illinois schools still aren't teaching Asian American history. HANA's Suburban Youth Council (SYC) wants to change that.
To advocate for the full implementation of Asian American history in IL schools, our SYC youth have:
◦ Testified at school board meetings
◦ Met with district administrators
◦ Collected more than 200 petition responses
Now, they're opening their campaign to the whole community.
If you're parents, peers, and educators who care about inclusive curriculum and Asian American representation in IL schools, please join us!
