This conversation is the second part of the AAPI Nonprofit and Philanthropic Leadership Series, which was created to highlight the important community work that is being done in Chicago, and the new leaders that are leading this work.

🔷In September 2024, Danae Kovac became the second Executive Director of HANA Center, a nonprofit that builds the power of Korean, Asian American, and multiethnic immigrant communities in Chicagoland through social services, education, culture, and community organizing to advance human rights and systemic change.

🔷Nissa Rhee is a Peabody award-nominated journalist who lives in Chicago and serves as the Executive Director of Borderless Magazine, an award-winning nonprofit news outlet that covers immigration issues in the Midwest. Nissa was most recently honored with her inclusion in the 2025 cohort of The Leaders for a New Chicago.
