Bilingual Spanish Housing Program Coordinator
Job Description
HANA Center is a Chicago-area community-based organization working to meet the critical needs of Korean, Asian American, and multiethnic immigrant communities and build power toward systemic change. HANA Center has offices in Chicago and Prospect Heights, Illinois.
HANA’s Housing Services Program is part of its community capacity building programs. This program provides critical support to immigrant community members who are seeking housing assistance, education, and individual counseling services. HANA provides outreach, intake, and application assistance for rental and mortgage payment programs to support community members experiencing financial hardship. HANA also provides housing education, referrals, and counseling to low income community members and is certified by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The Housing Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting HANA’s housing services program in coordination with HANA’s HUD-Certified housing counselors. The Coordinator reports to the Housing Services Team Lead.
Major Responsibilities:
Core responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Develops timely and accurate program informational materials to share with clients and community at large
Conducts community outreach and educational workshops for the program
Performs intake and supports community members in assembling needed documents for housing counseling programs
Researches available housing options and matches clients with appropriate opportunities
Collects accurate program data and supports ongoing evaluation of the program
Maintains organized, up-to-date, and confidential client and programmatic files
Participates in all required educational programs, training, and staff meetings
Provides timely information to HANA Center’s communications staff
Collaborates with other HANA programs to provide referrals and holistic services to housing clients
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Demonstrated commitment to social, economic, and racial justice
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with people of diverse social, faith, economic, and racial/ethnic backgrounds
Experience providing high quality services to low-income, recent immigrant community members
Excellent written and oral communication skills
HUD certified housing counselor or ability to become HUD certified within six months of hire date is preferred
Ability to work independently and collectively with diverse team members
Ability to think creatively, prioritize multiple projects, and commitment to learning
Bilingual in written and spoken Spanish/English is required
Willingness to work flexible hours as needed; some evenings and weekends required
A valid driver’s license, access to a car with valid insurance, and ability to travel between HANA’s Chicago and Prospect Heights offices
Reports to: Housing Services Team Lead
Compensation: This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $42,000-$47,000 and benefits that include paid time off, paid sick leave, health, dental, vision, short-term disability, long-term disability, life, and 401K.
