Job Description
HANA Center (HANA) is a Chicago-area, community-based non-profit organization working to meet the critical needs of Korean, Asian American, and multiethnic immigrant communities and build power toward systemic change. HANA Center has offices in Chicago and Prospect Heights, Illinois.
HANA’s Community Wellness program utilizes a culturally rooted, strengths-based approach to support Korean American and diverse multiethnic immigrant community members to cope with various forms of stress and trauma, improve overall mental wellness, and enhance their family and community support systems. HANA’s team members are bilingual and bicultural community advocate counselors and masters-level interns.
Position Summary:
The Community Wellness Team Lead is responsible for coordinating day-to-day administration and overseeing the team that implements HANA’s Community Wellness program, which includes case management, counseling, and referrals for immigrant community members and families experiencing mental health challenges, including anxiety, stress, interpersonal conflict, and instances of community crime, domestic violence, and/or sexual assault.
Major Responsibilities:
Manage Community Counselor and master’s level program interns; if licensed, provide clinical supervision for staff seeking licensure, as required
Provide on-site and remote counseling and case management for immigrant community members, including adults, older adults, youth, and families
Support community members to develop and achieve their care plans'
Facilitate internal and external referrals for community members to legal advocacy, behavioral health specialists, and a range of comprehensive community supports
Provide group counseling and peer support spaces for community members as needed
Facilitate workshops and educational events to raise awareness about domestic violence, sexual assault, and violence against marginalized people, and community-driven practices toward achieving safety and wellness
Participate in coalition groups and meetings on behalf of HANA Center
Ensure timely completion of grant and outcomes reporting
Maintain excellent record-keeping; ensure client confidentiality and integrity of data collected
Stay up-to-date with emerging best practices and industry standards, facilitating organizational training and sharing of resources as needed

Key Qualifications:
Demonstrated commitment to immigrant rights and social, racial, and economic justice
Belief in communities’ ability to support each other, heal, organize, and achieve desired goals together
Experience working on Korean American, Asian American, immigrant community issues, and/or social, economic, and racial justice issues preferred
Master’s degree required; LCSW, LPC, or LCPC preferred
Minimum three years of crisis intervention, gender-based or community violence, case management, counseling, or related experience in an immigrant setting preferred
Bilingual fluency in Spanish/English required
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects
Attention to detail and accuracy with a track record of meeting deadlines
Basic computer proficiency required; experience with Microsoft Word and Google suites preferred
Ability to think creatively and independently; commitment to learning
Ability to motivate and inspire team members to take initiative, problem solve, and innovate
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, as needed
Completion of 40 hours of Domestic Violence Training (can be post-hire)
Completion of annual online Mandated Reporter DCFS Training (can be post-hire)
Valid driver’s license, car insurance, access to a car
Reports to: Senior Manager of Social Services
Compensation: This is a full-time position with a salary range of $55,000-$65,000 and benefits that include paid leave, paid sick leave, health, dental, vision, short-term disability, long-term disability, life, and 401K.
