housing COUNSELING SERVICES

HANA Center’s HUD-certified counselors provide one-on-one counseling, workshops, and referrals to support limited English-speaking Korean Americans and multiethnic immigrants to obtain and maintain affordable housing and work toward achieving long-term housing goals. Focus areas include rental, pre-purchase, post-purchase, foreclosure prevention, budgeting/financial management, and assisting older adults to apply for public housing.

Workshops will be held in either English, Spanish, and/or Korean and we will provide both online (Zoom) and in-person (HANA Center Chicago office - 4300 N. California Ave., Chicago, IL 60618) options throughout the year. More workshop dates and options will be added to our schedule in the future.

  • Rental Housing Workshop (English, Online - Zoom): April 2, 2024, 6 PM - 7:30 PM

Court-Based Rental Assistance Application Help

The Illinois Court-Based Rental Assistance Program (CBRAP) provides funding to Illinois tenants and landlords across Illinois who have pending cases in eviction court. The program is only available to litigants in eviction court. Applicants may qualify for up to $10,000 in emergency rental payments that can include up to 15 months of past-due rent and 2 months of future rent payments to prevent eviction

**NOTE:  Beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024, the following updates to CBRAP will go into effect:

  1. Household maximum caps will be reduced from $25,000 to $10,000, including court costs/fees, and

  2. Future months covered for approved applications will be reduced from up to three (3) months to up to two (2) months.

Any applicant who applies prior to March 11 remains eligible under the current guidelines. Applicants who apply on or after March 11, will be subject to the updated terms.
